NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

* This may gross out some readers but it's actually not gross at all (spoken by someone who threw up and passed out when they saw their sister's blood)...

A common conversation as of late, "hey, want to go eat/swim/hang out/have adventures/live a little?" to which I have to respond, "I can't. I am, or am about to, feed Morpheus."

I don't mind it though as I love him dearly and I know his body needs help. We're refueling him from the brink of death. He's getting better each day and he has even started eating on own again. Though not a lot, it's a huge change from just a few weeks ago. Come on, baby. You can do it.

Here is just a glimpse of his daily care:

Tobramycin: both eyes every 8 hours
Prednisolone 5mg: 1 tablet via E tube every 24 hours
Clindamycin 75m: mix with food and give via E tube every 12 hours

Famotide 5mg: via E tube every 24 hours
Ondanestron 8mg: 1/2 tablet via E tube every 24 hours for nausea

For the first few days I fed him 15ml every 6 hours to allow his stomach to slowly stretch.  As of today he is receiving 20ml every 6 hours. In another day we will increase it to 25ml every 6 hours until he eventually reaches his necessary daily caloric intake. In addition to this, ever other day we are giving him subcutaneous fluids to make sure he stays hydrated. I leave that one up to the beau. It's a little too much for this stomach of mine to handle.

By the way, he LOVES this stuff.  It's so gritty and gross smelling but as of today he tries to just eat it ouf of the syringe.  That's my bear!

Warning: you will have a 4 pound ginger baby crying at your feet the entire time you are preparing Morpheus's food because he wants to be picked up.

Voilà, lunch has been served.
